REGION OF CENTRAL MACEDONIA
CULTURE CENTER - CENTER OF STUDY AND DEVELOPMENT OF GREEK CIVILIZATION OF THE BLACK SEA
The Culture Centre of Thessaloniki of the Region of Central Macedonia was established by law in 1996 as single-member Public Limited Company (SA) of the former Prefecture of Thessaloniki, and functions for the sake of public interest continuously up to today. Its aim is the maintenance and the enhancement of cultural heritage, but also the detection and promotion of the modern cultural and civilising landscape throughout the entire geographic region of Central Macedonia. In its activities are included its own productions, collaborations with cultural institutions and organisations, implementation of Program Contracts with Public bodies, development of European Programs, etc. It is financed from the annual budget of the Region of Central Macedonia.
Under the supervision of Culture Center of Thessaloniki and the high supervision of the Prefecture of Central Macedonia acts the Center of Study and Development of Greek civilization of the Black Sea. Its purpose is, among others, to promote culture through different activities, researches, publications, educational programs and projects, cross border cultural exchanges. The Center for Study and Development of of Greek civilization of the Black Sea has a huge, remarkable, rare and precious archive with books, documents, photographs, maps, gravures, and other historical material.
